Almost Done

Though the painting is finished I have to return the camera to the library so I have no time to show you readers the finished piece but here is what it looked like yesterday. It's pretty much done, a few sections need warming up or cooling down and I will probably go over it with a fine tooth comb, still I like it and enjoyed doing it. Now on to painting numero two of absurd portraits.

A tune to celebrate

Relearning the Tools of the Trade

Yo, yo, yo Mother funkers! your uncle Felix is back with a brand spanking new painting (which once again is not finished)  alas! however it is moving forward quicker than expected. I took part in a two day color workshop last week and it opened my eyes to how color can often go wrong in a painting. So this is a little Ensoryish go at bringing in more realistic color to my work.

Oh and this darn thing is finally finished which means it's time to celebrate with some joyous music.

James Ensor

I have been referred to the artist James Ensor when presenting my work to a tutor. It has changed my paintings slightly in the process. Ensor was one of the fathers of the expressionist movement and loved to paint the absurdity of life. His paintings and themes were a revelation to me as I now feel my work owes a lot to him.

There are just too many great paintings of Ensor's to display here so just go to google images through the link.

Oh and the last painting I have posted was painted on a thrown out desk surface, you can get some really smooth strokes from them.
